2011 Relay for Life

With the tremendous leadership of Duke Raleigh Cancer Center Auditor Julie Yamadi, Duke Raleigh’s Devils for a Cure snagged first place in fundraising for the annual Relay for Life of Northern Wake County benefitting the American Cancer Society.

Duke Raleigh employees, patients and friends donated a total of $9,267 for the event.

Creative fundraisers for this year’s Relay included a silent auction and bake sale.

With a team of more than 87, the Duke Raleigh team walked at the event on May 13 and 14 and celebrated cancer survivorship and remembered those who had lost their battle with cancer.

A special guest, the Duke Blue Devil, also showed up to bring a little excitement and enthusiasm which may have helped Duke Raleigh also receive the “Most Spirited” team award.

Devils for a Cure team member Mary Ann Fox also won the individual top fundraising award with a total of $2278 raised.
