Asthma gets the whistle

Dr. William Fulkerson, senior vice president for clinical affairs, invites you to blow the whistle on asthma by participating in the 7th Annual Asthma Walk on Saturday, Sept. 27 at the Centennial Campus of N.C. State University in Raleigh.whistle

Sign up to be a captain or participant in the 3.2 mile charity walk and help raise money for asthma and other pulmonary diseases.

Lung disease is responsible for one in seven deaths. Today, more than 35 million Americans are living with chronic lung disease such as asthma, emphysema and chronic bronchitis.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the walk will start at 10 a.m.

If you can’t make the walk, you can still get involved:

Duke Hospital will host a silent auction to benefit the Asthma Walk and the American Lung Association from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sept. 23 in the Medical Center Boardroom.

The auction may include donated items such as small household appliances, electronics or small furnishings, decorative items, art work, crafts, jewelry, sports equipment, tickets for movies, plays or other artistic performances or sporting events, certificates for personal services, and wrapped theme gift baskets.

2nd Annual Hot Dog Lunch/Raffle/Auction Fundraiser from 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. Sept. 26 on West Campus Grounds. For $5 purchase a lunch with 2 hot dogs, chips and lemonade. Purchase a $1 raffle ticket for a chance to win a $100 gas card, i-Pod, or a $40 Wal-Mart card. Auction items will include: TV/VCR combination, house washing, care detailing, and yard blowers.
