Charles Smith, M.D., University of Arkansas Medical Sciences Executive Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs and primary care physician, and Tiffany Christensen, patient and DUHS Patient Advocacy Council member, will share their own experiences, perspectives and recommendations for a stronger patient/healthcare provider partnerships.
Dr. Smith will also discuss the "participatory medicine" model of care -- a cooperative model of health care that encourages, supports, and expects active involvement by all parties (clinicians, patients, caregivers, administrators, payers, and communities) in the prevention, management, and treatment of disease and disability and the promotion of health.
