Dine out and help Haiti

posted January 14th, 2010

Sunday, January 24 and Monday, January 25 more than 20 Triangle area restaurants will be donating 10 percent of their proceeds to earthquake relief efforts in Haiti.

Funds will be given to two organizations providing medical relief in Haiti -- Partners in Health (http://www.pih.org) and the locally-run Family Health Ministries (http://www.familyhm.org/).

Victoria Quinn, a clinical nurse in the Pediatric CRU, was inspired by a similar event in New York City and within a matter of days she had assembled a team that organized Dine out for Haiti in the Triangle area.

"As a nurse, when you see something like this happen, there is a part of your heart that says 'I've got to go help'," Quinn said. "I can't go, but I can do something here."
