DRAH’s Same Day Surgery Waiting Area gets a facelift
posted February 22nd, 2010Construction is the latest sign of progress in Duke Raleigh Hospital’s Same Day Surgery waiting area. The hospital is the process of upgrading the waiting area with more modern features that will provide more seating, enhanced lighting, and more improvements to give our visitors a more comfortable experience in the waiting area.
The project, which began in mid-January, is expected to last for six weeks and will be completed in two phases. During each phase, half of the waiting area will be closed. Highlights of the project include:
• All new furniture with 24 additional seats
• New carpet, including an entranceway with the Duke logo embedded in the carpet
• Removal of larger furniture items
• Removal of the vertical blinds to allow for more light
• Painting of walls and removal of wallpaper
• Renovations to private family/physician conference room
“We want our patients’ first impression to reflect the first-rate level of patient care that is delivered here in Duke Raleigh’s Same Day Surgery,” said Sherrie Pritchard, Clinical Operations Director. “We look forward to completing these improvements and providing better accommodations to keep our reception area warm and inviting.”
Once the work is complete, the waiting area will continue to feature artwork from the Guild.
“We appreciate the patience of our visitors and employees as we work to improve your experience in Same Day Surgery,” added Pritchard.
