Duke Cancer Center, Durham Bulls team up to strike out cancer
posted August 14th, 2009The Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Durham Bulls are working together to Strike Out Cancer. The fundraising program is designed to help support patients and their families touched by the disease, raise awareness, and fund critical research projects.
The 2009 sponsors, GlaxoSmithKline and Capitol Financial Solutions, have agreed to make a donation to the Duke Cancer Center for every strikeout thrown by a Bulls pitcher, in home games, this season. Last year, the Bulls notched 548 strikeouts in 72 home games -- a little over seven per game. The DCCC has capped this years sponsorship at $50,000.

For any gift of $100 or more you will receive:
• Admission to the Sept. 6 game
• Private VIP reception (food included)
• Autograph session with Wool E. Bull and Durham Bull Players and Coaches
• Name on the Jumbotron in the 8th inning for supporting the cause of SOC
