E&O’s Donald Rust wins state healthcare engineering award

posted September 1st, 2010

Donald Rust, assistant director of Engineering & Operations for Duke Medical Center, has been named engineer of the year for 2010 by the North Carolina Healthcare Engineers Association Inc.

The award is presented annually to a healthcare engineer in the state who exemplifies leadership and dedication to improving the healthcare engineering field.

Rust’s nomination letter cites his “countless contributions to his organization, their patients, his co-workers and the engineering field.”

“I have the good fortune to work with a great staff in a great organization,” said Rust, a Duke employee for 44 years. “The NCHEA award reflects that as much as my own individual achievements.”

“This is a great honor for Don, and for Duke Medical Center,” said Robert Guerry, director of Engineering & Operations. “I can’t think of anyone who deserves it more. Day in and day out, Don leads by example and sets the bar high.”
