Events key on music’s impact on the brain

PhotoIllustrationByVanessaDejonghThe Duke Institute for Brain Sciences (DIBS) is hosting two events focused on the impact of music on the brain.

The first, The Weaver Lecture, will take place at 6 p.m. on Nov. 12 in Page Auditorium.

The second, DIBS’ first symposium, will be held from 9 a.m.-5:15 p.m. on Nov. 13 in the Bryan Research Building, Room 103.

The Weaver Lecture will feature Oliver Sacks, M.D., professor of clinical neurology and clinical psychiatry at Columbia University Medical Center. Sacks will present “Music, Healing and the Brain.” This event is free and open to everyone. Tickets and registration are not required.
