Fundamentals of Critical Care Support offered at DRAH

Duke Raleigh Hospital will sponsor the Fundamentals of Critical Care Support course on April 16-17, 2010 in the Cancer Center Classrooms.

This internationally recognized course currently trains 6,000 healthcare professionals annually in more than 24 countries.

During this two day course, attendees hear lectures on assessment of the critically ill adult, acute respiratory failure, ACS, mechanical ventilation, oxygenation and acid-base balance, electrolyte and metabolic disturbances, shock, cardiopulmonary/cerebral resuscitation, trauma, burn management, and sepsis. All faculty are content specialists and experts in their field.

Hands on training at skill stations such as airway management, vascular access, mechanical ventilation, and noninvasive positive pressure ventilation are also included.

The target audience is physicians, nurses, physician assistants and respiratory therapists.

The program is designated for a maximum of 15 AMA PRA Category I credits (or its equivalent for other disciplines).

The $225.00 fee for the two day program includes the course, textbook and meals. The fee is $125.00 for Duke employees and Medical Staff.

Advance registration is required.
