New AEDs added at DRH
posted January 14th, 2010Durham Regional recently added two automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to the hospital, and there now is a total of three in the building.
AEDs are used when someone stops having a pulse. The AED can analyze the rhythm of the heart, and can shock the heart if one of two types of
rhythms is found. There is also an Ambu bag with the AED, used to revive people when they stop breathing.
