OIE announces spring diversity award

posted March 22nd, 2010

The Office for Institutional Equity (OIE) is committed to recognizing individuals and teams making significant contributions to enhance diversity and inclusion within the Duke community. Recognition for these efforts is achieved through the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Award. OIE recognizes recipients of the EDI Award two times during the year: in the fall and spring.

OIE is currently accepting nominations for the spring EDI Award. Members of the Duke community (i.e., staff, faculty, individuals and teams) may be nominated. Recipient(s) should demonstrate a high regard for diversity and inclusion by exhibiting one or both of the following:

- Exceptional commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion through the development of, or involvement in, tangible strategies (i.e., projects, initiatives).

- Behavior which illustrates leadership and commitment to the inclusion of persons who are members of traditionally under-represented groups in key workplace activities and/or initiatives.

Winners will receive prizes including an EDI Certificate. Recipients will also become candidates for the annual Duke University Blue Ribbon Diversity Award. Several of the EDI Award winners have become recipients of the esteemed Duke Diversity Blue Ribbon Award.
