PBMT’s Family Support Program to benefit from Whole Foods sales

posted March 22nd, 2011

Whole Foods Market in Durham (621 Broad Street) is donating 5 percent of their net sales on Tuesday, March 29th (7:30 a.m.-10 p.m.) to the Duke Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplant (PBMT) Family Support Program.

It's a great chance to stock up for the Final Four and support a good cause at the same time!

The more you spend, the more you'll contribute to the important work of the Duke PBMT Family Support Program.

Parents: Bring your kids along and do "medical play" with Duke PBMT staff on one of our teddy bears while you shop. "Medical play" is how we educate young patients about the experiences they will have in the hospital - and we make it fun.

Duke Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplant is the largest dedicated transplant program in the world, treating over 1700 patients since 1990. Patients face life-threatening illnesses and are required to stay in Durham for 6-8 months. The Duke PBMT Family Support Program provides over 25 programs, including patient activities, meals for parents, volunteers, and financial assistance to families for basic needs like food, lodging and transportation. The Family Support Program is not funded by Duke and relies solely on charitable contributions to provide services and support to families during a critical time in their lives.
