Register for the second annual Research Career Day
posted May 4th, 2010Register now for the second annual Research Career Day on Friday, May 21 in the Schiciano Auditorium in the Pratt School of Engineering.
On this day, we will celebrate the promise of Duke's next generation of scientific investigators. Highlights include:
- Welcome for Duke Medicine Leadership
- Awards Ceremony for junior investigators and mentors
- Keynote address from John (Jack) Feussner, MD, MPH
- Poster and oral presentations from students, fellows, and junior faculty in the Schools of Medicine and Nursing
- Networking social hour
Keynote speaker will be Dr. John Feussner, Distinguished University Professor and Chairman of the Department of Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina. He was a resident and chief resident in medicine and was the Chief of the Division of General Internal Medicine at Duke when he left to become the Chief Research and Development Officer for the Department of Veterans Affairs. He currently serves on multiple advisory committees for the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Defense. Dr. Feussner recently completed a four year term as a member of the Clinical Research Roundtable for the Institute of Medicine, a major product of that work being the concept for the new NIH CTSA initiative. His talk is entitled “Pasteur’s quadrant: Coupling Medical Knowledge to Clinical Action” will be both informative and engaging.
