posted September 8th, 2009

A concert and documentary film featuring Marcy Brenner, who received a bone marrow transplant at Duke for metastatic breast cancer and has been in remission since 2000, will be held Oct. 9 in the Duke North courtyard. The event is sponsored by Health Arts Network at Duke, HAND.

Her inspiring story is featured in the highly acclaimed documentary, "Dead Girl Walking," described as an "intimate and spirited story of a young woman's survival and the back-handed gifts her adventure with illness bestowed on her life."

Brenner and her husband, who were featured in the film Nights in Rodanthe, will perform from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. From 12-1 p.m., "Dead Girl Walking" will be shown in the Rauch Conference Room, 15103 Morris Building, and a discussion will follow.

The events are free and open to the public. For more information, contact Grey Brown: 684-6223 or brown097@mc.duke.edu.
