SOM’s Latino Medical Student Association hosting presentation on cultural competency
posted April 27th, 2011The Duke School of Medicine’s Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA) is hosting a presentation on cultural competency in medicine by Enrique Caballero M.D., director of the Latino Clinic at the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston.The event will be held at noon on April 29 in the Duke South Amphitheater, Room 0916.
Caballero is one of the leading diabetes researchers in the Latino community. Much of his work revolves around the rapidly increasing number of people from culturally diverse populations, the high rates of type 2 diabetes in these groups, and the existence of health care disparities that contribute to a particular challenge facing the current health care system.
