treeofhopeThe annual Tree of Hope lighting ceremony for the Duke Cancer Patient Support Program (DCPSP) will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 4.

The Tree of Hope honors people facing cancer, those who have faced cancer and those who have made a difference in their lives.

You can honor or remember a loved one with a light on the tree and their named will also be written in the Book of Honor in the DCPSP lobby.

To purchase lights of hope visit the DCPSP’s Web site to obtain a form and mail it in or call (919) 684-4497. A gift of $10 to the DCPSP purchases one light on the tree and a gift of $25 purchases three lights on the tree. General donations of any amount are also greatly appreciated.

The ceremony begins in the DCPSP’s lobby with a special recognition for this year’s Light of Hope, Marie Palmer, a now retired, 10 year DCPSP staff member. Then the group will move to the Seese-Thornton Garden of Tranquility for the tree lighting.

For information about honoring someone with a light on the tree, contact the DCPSP at 684-4497.
