Needleman's presentation will focus on nurses' contributions to creating value, and the demands that the search for value will impose on the nature of nurses' work and nursing education.
Needleman's research on hospital nurse staffing and patient outcomes won the first Health Service Research Impact Award from AcademyHealth. His paper examining the economics of hospital nursing and the business case for nursing was Health Affairs' most downloaded article in 2006.
