Description from Dr. Hurlbut: Advances in biotechnology are moving medicine beyond its traditional role of curing disease and alleviating suffering. These interventions are altering our most fundamental personal and social relations while posing challenges to our traditional sense of the meaning and purpose of human life. In this presentation, we will discuss embryonic interventions, cognitive enhancement and anti-aging technologies, and seek spiritual principles that can align and guide our new powers with both wisdom and compassion.
The seminar will be offered Thursday, February 4 from Noon - 1:30 p.m. in the Medical Center Board Room Duke Clinic/Hospital South Room 1170B 1st floor Yellow Zone. Lunch will be provided, to be included in the count for lunch please register by Noon Tuesday, January 26.
