Lecture with Lovins, Time ‘planet hero’

Physicist Amory Lovins, an internationally respected expert on advanced energy and resource efficiency who was named one of Time magazine’s “Heroes for the Planet,” will give the first Duke Environment and Society Lecture on Wed., Nov. 4.


Lovins, chairman and chief scientist at the Rocky Mountain Institute in Colorado, will discuss “Profitable Solutions for Climate, Oil and Proliferation” beginning at 6 p.m. in Love Auditorium, Levine Science Research Center, on the Duke campus. The talk and a 5:15 p.m. reception are free and open to the public.

The lecture and Q&A also will be streamed live to the Web. There will be an opportunity to ask questions via e-mail and Twitter.

Sponsored by the Nicholas School of the Environment, the lecture is part of an ongoing new series instituted by Dean Bill Chameides to bringmajor players to Duke who are helping build a sustainable future.
