Spirituality, Theology and Health Seminar

On Thursday, November 5, 2009 Sarah Coakley, PhD, Norris-Hulse Professor of Divinity at Cambridge, a chair devoted to the philosophy of religion will present, Pain and Its Transformations: Meaning, Healing and Spiritual Practice.

Description: In this presentation Sarah Coakley will bring together (1) The results of her collaborative research on pain done at Harvard on the significance of meaning-ascription in the experience and endurance of pain; and (2) Her theological assessment of this medical research in relation to her own ministerial work in the area of spiritual healing. Central to the analysis will be reflection on the hermeneutics of suffering and its neurophysiological and spiritual implications.

The seminar will be offered Thursday, November 5 from Noon - 1:30 p.m. in the School of Nursing Auditorium Room 1014. Lunch will be provided, to be included in the count for lunch please register by Noon Friday, October 30.
