Cathy Gustafson: A nurse who helps others become nurses

Cathy is a wonderful example of an alumni who keeps on "giving" to the School of Nursing.
Cathy Gustafson, RN, a perinatal nurse clinical, makes a difference for senior nursing students at Duke.
Helen Gordon, says, "On behalf of the senior nursing students at Duke School of Nursing we want to recognize Cathy Gustafson who is a nurse clinician in the High Risk OB Clinic. Cathy is a graduate of the Duke BSN Program (many years ago) and has devoted 30+ years of service to the Duke Health System. For five years she has been a regular lecturer at the Duke School of Nursing in the maternity course (N220) where she shares her expertise in lactation (breastfeeding) with the students. She is not only an amazing nurse but is an engaging lecturer who is warm, funny and so generous with devoting her time to these students as they learn how they can support new mothers, their babies and families to initiate breastfeeding. Cathy is a wonderful example of an alumni who keeps on "giving" to the School of Nursing. We hope she wants to keep coming back to our class....where we welcome her with open arms! A BIG HIGH 5 should go to this great nurse and teacher. "
