Darlene Petrie: Going above the call of duty
posted May 7th, 2009Darlene Petrie, RN, received the following praise from a patient:
“I had surgery on 2/2/09 and she took care of me that night. She is a nurse like I have strived to be for 37 years. When I put the light on because the IV was beeping, before she found out what I needed she entered the cubicle with a new IV bag. Her technique with IV push and assessment was exactly as I expected. She is a true caring nurse and should be highly commended for her thoughtfulness. Too often we expect good service and are quick to complain when we don’t get it. It is good for us to recognize those who are doing their job not only well but above the call of duty.”
