They went on their time off for two days and packed all of the patient's things and took them to storage for her.
Cindy Downing, in clinical trials at Duke Raleigh Cancer Center, Brenda Wilcox, a patient navigator at the center and Portia Mitchell, from the Duke Oncology Network are recognized for a going beyond their roles to help a patient.
Carrie Byrns writes: "A recent patient at DRAH was returning to her home in London for continued care due to the need for family support. The patient was weak and unable to pack her things for storage. Cindy Downing, Brenda Wilcox, and Portia Mitchell, along with their husbands, went on their time off for two days and packed all of the patient's things and took them to storage for her. This is one story of the many remarkable staff we have at the Cancer Center at DRAH."
