Michael Blazing: Excellence above and beyond his role as a physician

Thank you God for sending this angel called a doctor to look after me.

Michael Blazing, M.D., a cardiologist, received a Provider Strength, Hope and Caring award.

His nominator said: "I saw Dr. Blazing in his Lumberton office. He quickly realized I needed to be hospitalized at Duke. He was leaving for India the next day, and I was admitted to Dr. Becker's service. Dr. Blazing personally came by to check on me before leaving the country. He also sent e-mails to my endocrinologist team to make sure I was looked after by them. Dr. Blazing did not have to do any of this, but I feel like he did because of his great care for all of his patients. This doctor travels to Lumberton to see patients so they do not have to drive two hours for his excellent care. I feel that Dr. Blazing shows strength by wanting to be involved with his patients' needs. He shows that he cares by always being willing to help. And I have hope because he will not give up on my complicated medical conditions. He is a very good example of excellence above and beyond his calling as a physician.
