Thank you, team, for being an important part of the care this patient received at Duke Hospital and for truly making a difference in this patient's life.

Microbiology 2nd shift received a quarterly Strength, Hope and Caring Award.

Technologists Linda Douglas, Ruth McMillan, Andrew Crichton, Tanya VanFleet, and Carolyn Carrillo went above and beyond to assist Dr. Barbara Alexander in providing the best care possible for her patient. Each technologist worked an extra shift to help process tissue specimens from the operating room overnight to attempt to avoid the amputation of a patient's leg.

Their nominator said, "The caring of these five technologists for the well being of a patient, whom they will never meet, and their strength to work extra long hours as part of a team played an important part in the realization of the physician’s hope to save this patient’s leg. Thank you, team, for being an important part of the care this patient received at Duke Hospital and for truly making a difference in this patient's life."
