Stan Chance: Making patients feel special

posted April 23rd, 2009

Stan Chance, patient service associate at Lenox Baker, received a Random Act of Kindness Award. His nominator, Brenda Fisher, wrote:

“I work at Duke. My father is a patient at Duke. My father has a brain blockage that is inoperable. The blockage makes him very anxious, repetitive and sometimes out-casted by society, but that was not the case on March 18th. My father arrived at Lenox Baker to get a MRI of his brain. Mr. Chance checked my father in and gave him nothing but utmost respect. He joked with him, laughed with him, but above all he took time for him. My father was stunned by the gold stars that Mr. Chance displayed. Mr. Chance even went as far as giving my father one of his gold stars for doing so well with his MRI. The kindness shown to my father this day means so much to me and my entire family.”
