Veronica Garrett: She does things the right way

Veronica Hopkins Garrett, RN, Telemetry at Durham Regional Hospital, received the DCHC Board of Trustees Award for Excellence in Nursing Practice. A patient said:
“Veronica had just gotten off work when she heard that my mother did not want to be turned or touched in any way, and that she spoke to the nurses in such a way that they seemed ready to let her have her way. Veronica came to my mother’s room to see if she could help and it was obvious right away that we were in the presence of an accomplished, dedicated caregiver. She was gentle and kind but still used the firm responses required to get the job done, and get it done right.”
