Be alert to a phishing scam hitting your inboxes
posted January 15th, 2009A phishing scam—in which spammers send e-mails that appear to be from
someone you know—was discovered by last night that may be
appearing in many Duke e-mail inboxes this morning.
The message appears to be from the Duke University Federal Credit Union but it is
not. The e-mail incorporates the Duke FCU logo and appears to be sent from
a duke.edu address. It directs people to a Web site that asks for
their financial information and Social Security Number.
The source of the phishing e-mails has now been blocked. If you see one, delete it. Full details on the issue have been posted on the Credit Union, Duke Today and HR web sites.
