Candidate statements on health care reform

posted October 14th, 2008

Election Day is in about three weeks.

The editors of the New England Journal of Medicine asked U.S. Sen. John McCain, the Republican presidential nominee, and U.S. Sen. Barack Obama, the Democratic presidential nominee, to describe their plans for reforming the U.S. health care system.

Find their statements by clicking below:

Here are links to the statements the nominees gave the Journal:

U.S. Sen. John McCain—“Access to Quality and Affordable Health Care for Every American”

U.S. Sen. Barack Obama—“Modern Health Care for All Americans”

Also, in order to explore their positions in greater depth, the Journal and the Harvard School of Public Health cosponsored a Perspective Roundtable on Sept. 12, entitled “Health Care in the Next Administration” and featuring senior health policy advisors David Cutler for Obama and Gail Wilensky for McCain.

A video of the symposium can be seen at www.nejm.org.
