Candlelight vigil honors MLK

posted January 21st, 2010

Durham Regional Hospital held its annual candlelight prayer vigil to honor the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. on January 19, 2010.

Standing in a circle in the hospital's main lobby, hospital chaplains and staff recited a litany of celebration of Dr. King's life and spirit, sang a verse of the hymn We Shall Overcome, and lit handheld candles to signify King's message. Joanne Kersey, patient service associate for Radiology, sang a verse of Amazing Grace.

The Durham Regional MLK events wrap up Friday, January 22 with a musical extravaganza featuring song, dance and poetry performances. See a full listing of the MLK events held at Durham Regional here.
