Captains needed for Heart Walk teams

posted May 18th, 2009

heart022Duke Medicine is sponsoring the American Heart Association’s 2009 Start!Triangle Heart Walk Sept. 27 at the RBC Center in Raleigh.

Duke Medicine needs 273 people from its three hospitals, plus its clinics, ambulatory sites and other entities, to join Victor Dzau, M.D., chancellor for health affairs and CEO of DUHS, in serving as a team captain for Duke Medicine’s Heart Walk Team.

As a team captain, you can make a difference by recruiting 10 walkers to participate and to raise $1,500 per team.

Money raised at the event will support the research and education work of the American Heart Association in the fight against heart disease and stroke, the nation’s No. 1 and No. 3 killers. The day will be filled with fun activities and heart health education for the entire family.

To sign up as a team captain, e-mail Erica Lind (Erica.lind@heart.org) with the AHA. Contact one of the following Duke Medicine Heart Walk co-chairs with any questions you may have: Wanda Bride at bride001@mc.duke.edu or 681-7242, or Leatrice Short at marti088@mc.duke.edu or 419-5505.
