Conference aims to boost e-prescribing

Registration is under way for a national conference in Boston on e-prescribing.

The Oct. 6-7 gathering is being hosted by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services along with representatives of the health and technology industries.

The goal is to educate health care providers and professionals, pharmacists and affected constituencies on the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008 (MIPPA) e-prescribing program and to promote the adoption of e-prescribing throughout the health care community.

Keynote speakers include:

  • Mike Leavitt, U.S. secretary of health and human services.
  • Kerry Weems, acting administrator, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
  • David J. Brailer, M.D., Ph.D., chairman, Health Evolution Partners.
