DGHI effort brings clinic to remote Honduran town
posted December 3rd, 2009A new health clinic is scheduled to open this summer in the town of Las Mercedes, Honduras, thanks to an effort led by Duke Global Health Institute senior adviser and Duke pediatrician Dennis Clements, M.D.
The effort has delivered clinical services and medical supplies to underserved communities in Honduras for the past decade. Clements, who also serves as director of the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies, teaches the course "Exploring Medicine" each spring, which culminates in a group trip to Honduras.
