DRH employee health fair draws a crowd for helpful information, advice

posted November 2nd, 2009

More than 20 health representatives were on hand at DRH on Oct. 29 for the Live For Life employee health fair to answer questions and offer free screenings.

Information also was available about new programs to help quit smoking, on gym discounts as well as nutrition, heart health and prevention to help employees make small changes that can create a healthier and more enjoyable life.

Free services included flu shots for Duke employees, cholesterol screenings, blood pressure checks, bone-density screenings (for women at risk), information from Duke Health and community representatives and prizes.

Dorinda Laughinghouse of the Ambulatory Care Unit says she attends the fair every year.

“The reason I like coming is because they give a lot of good information out,” she says.
