Duke Raleigh Cancer Center receives a gift from a former patient’s family and co-workers

Earlier this year, Lyle Tucker, a former Duke Raleigh Hospital patient, passed away from his battle with cancer. As a cancer patient, he understood the challenges of receiving chemotherapy, so he coordinated a generous donation of 1,000 hats to patients receiving treatment at Duke Raleigh Cancer Center.

In honor of Lyle, his wife Ruth and several of his co-workers from Rea Contracting, recently hosted the Lyle Tucker Memorial Golf Tournament at Heritage Club in Wake Forest. Over 18 companies participated in the event.

On November 16, which was Lyle’s birthday, his family and co-workers visited the Cancer Center and donated $5,300 in his memory.

“We are proud to present this donation to the caring staff at Duke Raleigh,” said Ruth Tucker. “We hope this can be used to help other cancer patients, because that’s how Lyle would want it.”
