Duke Raleigh event targets lung cancer

posted October 28th, 2008

Duke Raleigh Cancer Center is sponsoring the 2nd-annual “Free to Breathe” event at N.C. State’s Centennial Campus on Saturday, Nov. 8.

Proceeds will go to the North Carolina Lung Cancer Partnership to help fund research for more effective treatments for lung cancer.  To register for Free to Breathe, visit FreeToBreathe.org.

Lung cancer is the No. 1 cancer killer of American men and women.  It kills more people than breast, prostate, colon, liver, kidney and melanoma cancers combined.  Lung cancer kills almost twice as many American women as breast cancer annually.  One in 12 men and one in 16 women will get lung cancer in their lifetimes.

The event site is at Main Campus Drive and Campus Shore Drive.
