Duke Raleigh executive staff is “In Step.”
On Oct. 24, Duke Raleigh Hospital’s executive staff participated in “InStep Day,” which gives executive staff an opportunity to get first-hand experience in a variety of areas of the organization.
The experience of administrators working in various departments provides them with a better understanding of the challenges that Duke Raleigh employees on the front line face in their daily work lives. It is also an opportunity for employees to get to know and work closely with hospital leadership.
“The InStep program is something that I truly look forward to—it gives me an opportunity to work side by side with people that I typically do not get to be with on a daily basis,” said Don Barnes, chief human resources officer at Duke Raleigh. “I had a wonderful mentor and positive example set before me by Mary Ann Clark. Mary Ann was very helpful in orienting me to the dietary department and takes pride in what she does on a daily basis. I also truly appreciate the warm welcome I felt from Jessica Zombek and the entire nutritional services team.”
Clark, cashier and server from nutritional services, said she also enjoyed having Don working as a member of the nutritional services team. “Don was easy to work with, and he fit right in with our staff.”
