Get on track with prostate prudence

Hey, guys. Been putting off that yearly prostate check? You’ll have a chance to get back on track at a series of free screenings coming up soon in Durham and Raleigh:

Duke Raleigh Cancer Center at 3404 Wake Forest Road will offer screenings to men age 40 and older from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Sept. 20 (information, 862-5984).

—Also on Sept. 20, from 8 a.m. until noon, screenings will be held at Lincoln Community Health Center on Fayetteville Street in Durham (information, 956-4025).

Durham Regional Hospital will offer screenings, also for men 40 and older, from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, in Radiation/Oncology (information, 470-4278.)

—Free screenings also will be offered for men 40 and older from noon until 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 28, at Duke University Hospital South’s Morris Clinic Building (information at 684-9381).

The screenings are sponsored by Duke Urology in cooperation with Duke Cancer Center Raleigh and Lincoln Community Healthy Center.

Prostate cancer is the most frequently occurring cancer in American men over 40, and the American Cancer Society recommends yearly examinations.
