Heart Association finds Duke Med ‘fit-friendly’

Duke Medicine has been recognized by the American Heart Association as one of the 2008 Start! Fit-Friendly Companies. Duke Medicine was named a platinum company and Duke Raleigh Hospital was named a gold company for meeting criteria for employee fitness.

The complete list will be published in the Oct. 27 issue of Forbes magazine, which also features a special section, “The Healthy Workplace.”

“The Healthy Workplace” spotlights Duke’s on-site Farmer’s Market and comments from Victor J. Dzau, M.D., chancellor for health affairs and CEO for Duke University Health System.

 

Dzau said this in the article: “The most valuable result of our wellness initiantive is the message that is sent to our employees: that they matter and they are an important resource. The health of the individual is inseperable from the health of the the organization. If health promotion is done right, it not only lets your employees know you care about them, it can provide a strong ROI.”
