Hundreds turn out to celebrate SOM’s Basic Science Day
posted October 14th, 2010More than 300 faculty, postdoctoral and graduate student scientists from departments across Duke University School of Medicine came together on Oct. 12 to celebrate the school's excellence in basic science research at the school's first Basic Science Day.
The event included scientific presentations by faculty in each of the basic science departments, as well as presentations by basic science faculty in the departments of medicine and surgery.
A poster session throughout the day featured work done by postdoctoral students and two selected postdoctoral students were selected to give podium presentations highlighting their work.
Staff from the school's core laboratories and shared services group were on hand to provide attendees with information related to core laboratory facilities and services, as well as a host of research support services.
The event was hosted by Dean Nancy Andrews, MD, PhD, and Sally Kornbluth, PhD, Vice Dean for Research.
