Mitch Meacham, a financial management analyst for DUHS Corporate Finance, talks about how the Duke Cancer Patient Support Program has helped him through his cancer diagnosis.
"I feel like if I slow down, if I stop, the cancer's going to catch me," he said.
In the Gastrointestinal and Pancreatic Cancer Support Group, Meacham found that his fears and questions were too familiar to other patients at Duke University Hospital.
"I can tell somebody who doesn't have cancer all day long what it's like, but until you've had it you don't really know," he said, adding that he learned as much from the other patients as from doctors.
