Medical Chinese course for med students

posted July 28th, 2008

The School of Medicine is offering a new elective course in Mandarin Chinese for both beginners and more advanced speakers. The Medical Chinese Elective offers medically oriented Mandarin language classes to all Duke medical students who wish to participate.

The course, which began as an informal medical student group activity in January 2008, is now recognized as an official elective for the 2008-2009 academic year.  Students can participate in the fall, spring, or both semesters.  Successful completion of the course will be notated on the student’s transcript.  No former Mandarin language experience is required.  A short test will be given at the beginning of each semester to determine placement into the Beginner or Intermediate/Advanced Classes.
