Oct. 18: Service of Remembrance
posted October 14th, 2008
Duke University Hospital will host the fall Service of Remembrance on Oct. 18 at the Sarah P. Duke Gardens.
The service provides an opportunity for family and friends to gather with the hospital community in honor and remembrance of patients who died at Duke within the last six months.
This fall, music will be provided by Music Made in Heaven, a Raleigh-based hand bell choir made up of parents that have lost a child.
Duke Hospital Bereavement Services and the Bereavement Advisory Council will sponsor the event. Joanna Parker, Bereavement Services Coordinator, said, “For many families it is an expression of courage and love to come back to Duke in memory of those who passed during the last year. The Service of Remembrance gathers family members together to share stories and support each other in grieving and remembering well.”
