Then support the Start! Triangle Heart Walk by participating in two contests: a dog pageant and a pie in the face contest. You get to pick the most beautiful and ugliest dog and—even better—can help decide who gets a pie in the face. You have until Oct. 16.
Here are the details:
—Dog Beauty Pageant and Ugly Dog Contest: Help make it a howling success! Enter your pet as the “prettiest” or “ugliest” dog with a $5 entry fee and a photo. The winner will receive a $50 PetSmart gift card. Pictures can be posted on the EP Lab (7th floor Cath. Lab) bulletin board. See any EP staff member for details.
—Pie in the Face Contest: Sweets for the sweet? For $1 Duke employees and staff can vote for the most worthy contestant to receive a “pie in the face.” Ballots are located in the following offices: Linda Behney (Room 2601, Duke North near the Emergency Department), Mary Walton (Room 3254, Duke North, 3rd floor), Wanda Bride (Room 7290, Duke North, 7th floor). The Heart Walk is the American Heart Association’s largest community event aiming to raise funding for lifesaving research and education programs, celebrate survivors of heart disease and stroke, and educate our employees and their families about the prevention and treatment of these diseases. Our participation also can inspire camaraderie among our employees and showcase Duke Medicine’s heart for our community to the 10,000-plus people attending the walk.
