It’s Fire Prevention Week! Oct. 5 - 11

To promote the Fire Prevention Week, the Occupational and Environmental Safety Office (OESO) Fire Safety Division is inviting the Duke community to fire safety activities throughout the University and Medical Center during the month of October.

Hands-on fire extinguisher training will be provided on multiple days in various locations.  This is a great opportunity for people to practice an easy but effective fire safety technique.

Since 1922, the second week of October has been designated as Fire Prevention Week (FPW). This week commemorates the anniversary of the Great Chicago Fire (October 8-9, 1871) and is intended to teach people about fire prevention and safety. This year’s theme is “Prevent Home Fires.”
