Protect patients by washing your hands
posted January 16th, 2009Duke University Hospital always strives to develop innovative, cutting-edge ways to support the delivery of safe care to its patients. But sometimes the simplest precautions can make the biggest differences.
Such is the case with hand hygiene. When health care workers wash their hands, they are taking the single most important step in protecting patients from infections.
A new mandatory online training module has been developed to provide hand hygiene education to health care providers.
The module includes three short videos that give examples of hand hygiene, glove use and how to confront noncompliance. The module is on the OESO Safety Training Site.
To access the training module, staff should:
1. Go online to: http://www.safety.duke.edu/.
2. Log in to online training.
3. Choose hand hygiene training, and complete the module.
To support our compliance goals, all health care providers must complete the training by Feb. 15.
It’s not too late to get a flu shot.
