Rainbow of Heroes breaks a record
posted June 5th, 2008
It was the largest in its history, with 900 walkers.
The record was broken on May 3 during the eighth annual Rainbow of Heroes Walk at the Duke Center for Living to benefit the Duke Pediatric Blood & Marrow Transplantation (PBMT) Family Support Program.
The walk and day’s festivities gave Duke PBMT patients a chance to come together and celebrate and remember their loved ones. The Rainbow of Heroes event included a 5,200-yard walk around the track at the Duke Center for Living in honor of the PBMT, Unit 5200.
Participants carried balloons, with the names of children who received transplants at Duke, and then released the balloons into the air at the end of the walk.
