Siegfried Heyden, CFM professor, dies at 83

Siegfried Heyden, professor emeritus in the Department of Community and Family Medicine, died in his sleep on April 13 in his Durham home. He was 83. A celebration of life was held April 19 at the Pleasant Green Community Center.

He made invaluable contributions through his research and lectures around the world, as well as through his early detection programs for cancer, diabetes, and heart disease at Cannon Mills and the Duke Diet & Fitness Center, which he helped found.
