Submit an abstract for the 2010 Duke Medicine Patient Safety & Quality Conference

All interested health care professionals are welcome to submit research and/or process improvement abstracts for the poster session during the 6th annual Duke Medicine Patient Safety & Quality Conference to be held in Durham on Dec. 10.

To be considered for the conference, all abstracts must be received by Oct. 8, 2010.

Abstracts should highlight research projects and innovations in one or more of the following categories:

• Patient safety – A process, program, research, and/or practical application that improves patient safety.

• Quality improvement –A process, program, research and/or initiative that promote and/or demonstrate quality improvement in clinical care.

• Patient safety/quality improvement education –An educational program or initiative for health care providers that promote patient safety and clinical quality.

• Involvement of patients/families in health care to improve quality and safety – A program, committee, or project that includes patient and/or family members to improve patient safety and/or clinical quality. Significant patient and/or family involvement must be demonstrated.

All submissions will be judged anonymously by a panel of multi-disciplinary heath care professionals with safety and/or quality expertise. Abstracts rated highest in each category will be recognized at the podium during the morning plenary session, followed by a formal poster presentation session in the poster gallery.

Abstract Guidelines:
1. Abstracts must meet criteria for one or more of the categories listed above
2. Abstracts must not exceed 350 words (includes abstract, title, author, tables, etc) and two pages
3. All accepted abstracts must use conference poster template

Authors will be notified of final decision of the acceptance of the abstract. Also, Authors are responsible for conference registration, travel and associated costs.
