‘Take Ten’ to energize your holiday season

Take Ten is a self-paced incentive program that encourages Duke faculty and staff to participate in physical activity twice a day for 10 minutes at a time.

Online registration is required (participants must choose the Walk option.)

Keep track of how often you Take Ten by completing the provided log sheets. When a log sheet is complete, record your progress online to receive LIVE FOR LIFE dollars, which may be used to purchase items from the LIVE FOR LIFE store.

The programs are divided into five separate levels of achievement, which include an increasing number of Take Ten sessions. Participants may earn up to $260 LIVE FOR LIFE dollars.

How many calories will I burn?

Typically, an individual can expect to burn the following calories while walking 10-15 minutes at an intensity level of 3.0 mph.
150 lbs = 59 calories
170 lbs = 67 calories
190 lbs = 75 calories
200 lbs = 79 calories
210 lbs = 83 calories
220 lbs = 87 calories
230 lbs = 90 calories
260 lbs = 102 calories

Walking Routes
Here are some options that will allow you to “Take Ten.”

From Duke South to Duke North
Exit the old PRT lobby in Duke South to enter the PRT walkway.
Go past the Searle Center on your left.
Go to the doors of Duke Hospital.

From Duke North to Duke South
Exit doors from Duke Hospital.
Go past the Searle Center on your right.
Enter the old PRT lobby in Duke South.

A round-trip on the walkway meets the requirements of the “Take Ten” program.
